Full description
The name Grand Barrail was that of an old monastery in Gironde, and the castle was built on its ruins, on the initiative of Mr. Rene Bouchard, a malt and beer producer, for his beloved, Mrs. Godeau. The construction site was entrusted to the architect Louis-Marie Cordonnier, famous for being the architect of the Palace of Haye, completed in 1906, and for having participated in the reconstruction of the Basilica Church of Sainte-Thérèse of Lisieux. Mr. Rene Bouchard, who lived for several years in Saudi Arabia, wanted to recreate that specific atmosphere in the decoration of the castle. Long belonging to the Chateau Lamarzelle Figeac vineyard, Grand Barrail became a castle hotel in 1993. In 2008, the Grand Barrail Hotel decided to give it a new lease of life. We took over a prestigious property and carried out extensive renovation and improvement works. New owner, new manager, new chef, new ambitions, the new Grand Barrail is positioned around three main themes: beauty/nutrition, cuisine and the promotion of winemaking and regional culinary heritage.

Rooms Surrounded by a 3-hectare park, the Grand Barrail Hotel, a 4-star hotel, member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, has 41 rooms and 5 suites distributed in four buildings: the Castle, the Residence, the Bien-etre House and the Vignoble House. The 41 rooms and 5 suites are located in the Castle and the other 3 properties. Renovated in 2009, the rooms are at least 35 m and most have a terrace or balcony. All have a remarkable view of the vineyards and all the modern amenities, perfectly preserving the charm of the castle. The rooms are equipped with air conditioning and spacious bathrooms, satellite TV, minibar, safe for valuables and telephone. Two rooms are fully equipped for guests with disabilities.
